Parker County Water Costs and the Irrigation Burden
Weatherford and Parker County residents pay for water from a system with less abundant local supply than the Trinity River watershed communities in central Tarrant County. Water rates in Parker County communities are structured to reflect that relative scarcity, and irrigation-heavy household use during the summer creates meaningful bill increases. A 1,500-square-foot Weatherford lawn irrigated through a full west Texas summer can cost $100 to $160 per month in additional water above non-irrigation baseline from April through October — $700 to $1,100 per growing season. Over ten years, irrigation alone represents $7,000 to $11,000 in household spending. Artificial turf eliminates that cost from the budget permanently.
