Dallas-Tarrant County Line — Two Soil Profiles
Irving straddles the Dallas-Tarrant county line, and that boundary corresponds to meaningful differences in native soil composition. Tarrant-side properties tend toward heavier clay that drains poorly and expands and contracts significantly with moisture changes. Dallas-side properties have more variable soil profiles that may include better-draining sandy mixes alongside clay zones. Both sides of the city benefit from artificial turf, but the base preparation requirements differ. We conduct a soil assessment at every Irving site before specifying the base system so the foundation is engineered correctly for the specific location rather than applying a one-size-fits-all base to every project.
