South Tarrant Clay Soil and Drainage Reality
Forest Hill properties share the heavy clay soil profile that characterizes much of south Tarrant County. Clay drains slowly, holds standing water after heavy rain, and creates the ideal conditions for natural grass diseases and weed infiltration. It also means irrigation water ponds rather than soaking in, making it difficult to water consistently without creating soggy conditions. Our artificial turf installations address this directly: we excavate and replace the top layer with drainage-optimized base aggregate, creating a permeable system that moves water through quickly regardless of what the native soil does underneath. The result is a yard that drains as well as a properly engineered athletic field.
